Kylian Mbappé Scores Twice to Extend PSG's Lead
Paris Saint-Germain extended their winning streak to five matches and moved to the top of the Ligue 1 standings on Sunday, as Kylian Mbappé scored twice in a 3-0 victory over Toulouse. The victory moved PSG two points clear of second-placed Marseille, who have a game in hand. Mbappé's goals took his tally for the season to 11, moving him two clear of teammate Neymar in the race for the Golden Boot.
PSG dominated the match from the start, and they took the lead in the 17th minute when Mbappé converted a penalty after he was fouled in the area. The visitors doubled their lead just before the half-hour mark, when Neymar set up Mbappé for a simple tap-in. PSG continued to press for more goals in the second half, and they finally got their third in the 75th minute when Carlos Soler fired home from the edge of the area.
The victory was PSG's fifth in a row in all competitions, and it moved them to the top of the Ligue 1 standings for the first time this season. PSG will now face Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday, before hosting Monaco in Ligue 1 next weekend.
