High-profile Raids Target Dozens of Properties

In a major breakthrough against organized crime, three members of the notorious Al-Zein clan have been convicted and sentenced, while a senior figure has been apprehended in a series of raids conducted on Tuesday. Zaki Al-Zein, believed to be a prominent member of the gang, was arrested during the raids, which targeted over 30 homes.

The raid and arrests were the culmination of a public manhunt launched following a string of criminal activities attributed to the clan. As of Tuesday morning, hundreds of Special Forces officers were deployed to search multiple properties. Authorities accuse the Al-Zein clan of extensive criminal activity in North Rhine-Westphalia, including drug trafficking, armed robbery, assault, fraud, extortion, money laundering, and murder.

Zaki Al-Zein, the alleged patriarch of the clan, was sentenced to six years and eleven months in prison for his involvement in kidnapping. The convictions of the other three gang members highlight the authorities' determination to crack down on organized crime and dismantle the Al-Zein clan's operations.
