AI Model Predicts Heart Attack Risk
Oxford University researchers unveil AI technology that identifies individuals at risk of a heart attack within the next decade
New AI model analyzes CT scans to identify risk factors for heart attacks
Scientists at Oxford University have developed an artificial intelligence (AI) model capable of identifying individuals at risk of a heart attack within the next decade. The AI model, known as CaRi-Heart, analyzes CT scans to identify patients at risk of a heart attack within the next 10 years.
CaRi-Heart is able to spot minor problems in CT scans that are undetected by routine scans, such as inflammation and scarring.
The researchers say that CaRi-Heart could transform treatment for patients who undergo CT scans to investigate heart problems. The AI model could help to identify patients who need more intensive treatment or lifestyle changes to reduce their risk of a heart attack.
